Penn State head coach James Franklin, along with his players and coaches, have all of their focus on Saturday’s showdown against Michigan at the moment. With both teams inside the Top 10 but without a win against a ranked opponent, Saturday’s outcome is massive for the Nittany Lions. A win makes the final two games of October all the more important.

But even if the Lions do come up short this weekend, next weekend’s White Out game against Minnesota will undoubtedly be one of the deepest recruiting lists we see at any school this season. Although the list is still coming together, over 40 scholarship holders from 15 states in the 2024 and 2025 classes have already confirmed they plan to attend. That’ll only grow in the coming days.

Now, another top 2024 prospect has confirmed his plans to visit in St. Louis native Ryan Wingo. Although he currently holds a four-star rating, that’s likely to improve in the near future, as Wingo ranks 14th overall in the nation. On3 will finish with around 30 five-star players, so as long as Wingo doesn’t take a sizeble drop in the coming months, he’s on pace to be a five-star player.

Wingo earned an offer from Penn State in Nov. 2021. His list of schools is deep, with more than 30 programs extending verbal scholarship offers. He’s also been very active when it comes to visiting schools, as Wingo has seen 16 different programs since the summer of 2021. Of those schools, Arkansas, Missouri, Notre Dame and Texas A&M have all hosted him more than once. Other schools of note include LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee and Texas.

Next weekend’s visit will be Wingo’s first to Penn State. However, he has been in steady communication with wide receiver coach Taylor Stubblefield. In fact, Stubblefield flew to St. Louis last weekend during the bye week to watch Wingo and his St. Louis University High School teammates face Chaminade. They won 42-19.

So far this season, Wingo has totaled 26 receptions for 557 yards and 10 touchdowns. He’s averaging 21.4 yards per catch. He’s also a threat on special teams totaling 175 yards on just five punt returns. On kickoffs, he’s returned three of 12 returns for touchdowns. Wingo is averaging more than 30 yards per return on both punt and kickoff.

Blue White Illustrated will have an updated look at where Penn State’s early visitor list for next weekend’s White Out game stands later today.
