It’s time to dive into Friday’s top tweets and headlines about Penn State and college football.

We start with final interviews for members of both program’s featured in this weekend’s marquee matchup on CBS. BWI’s Nate Bauer has a full recap of the Penn State Coaches Show here, and the focus was mainly on the team’s freshmen. We’ll pick out a notable quote from James Franklin’s time on the air below that mentioned Abdul Carter and him potentially moving from outside to middle lineabcker down the road.

“Mike is the most on their plate from a learning perspective and kind of running the defense. I could see Abdul staying where he’s at into the boundary or transitioning into a Mike linebacker because he’s got the ability, the instincts to find the ball,” Franklin said. “He’s got the ability to run sideline to sideline, he is one of the fastest players that we have on our team. He’s 237 pound

Justin Hokanson at Auburn Live, which is an On3 sister site, also has a rundown of what was said by the Auburn coordinators. Read it by clicking this link. Here’s a highlight from that show:

“I understand the importance of [this game],” Auburn offensive coordinator Eric Kiesau said.

“For us, it’s about the progress and improvement throughout the year. You can’t make it a bigger environment or scheme than it really is. We’re building long term.”

In other news, two former Nittany Lion wrestlers go for World titles today.

David Taylor and Zain Retherford both are in the senior freestyle finals in Belgrade, Serbia. The former has a rematch with Hassan Yazdani, who he beat in the 2020 Olympic golf medal match. But, Yazdani has topped him at Worlds before. Retherford, then, faces Taishi Narikuni in the finals. He seeks his first gold at Worlds while Taylor aims for his third. Look for updates after Noon ET.
