We start with something that is almost guaranteed to change by December but also tells us the season is almost here: Bowl game projections.
Action Network’s Brett McMurphy was out first with an initial look at how the postseason could play out on Monday. He projects that Penn State will make a New Year’s Six contest. He has the Lions in the Cotton Bowl opposite Houston. That game is Jan. 2 at the Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington, Tex. Action Network lists Penn State as a 6.5-point favorite in that possible matchup.
ESPN also released bowl projections on Monday. Kyle Bonagura sees the Lions facing Auburn in the Music City Bowl in Nashville, Tenn., on Dec. 31. Mark Schlabach, on the other hand, projects Penn State to play Kentucky in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla., on Jan. 2.
In other news, Penn State extended a new Class of 2023 offer recently. It went out to Baltimore, Md., St. Frances senior defensive lineman Sam Greene.

“I had talked with Coach Poindexter before,” Greene told BWI’s Ryan Snyder. “He came up to my old school while I was there at Rock Creek.
“But, I still got to really get to know them more. My coach and my defensive coordinator told me about the Penn State offer. They talked to Coach Franklin, the head coach. Man, I was happy. I was smiling from ear to ear.”
