Former Penn State analyst Eric Raisbeck is leaving the Nittany Lions for an on-field role elsewhere. He was named the special teams coordinator at UC-Davis on Wednesday. Raisbeck spent four seasons on James Franklin’s support staff in a role focused on helping the program’s specialists.

“Eric has had a tremendous impact on one of the best special teams units in the country,” Aggies head coach Tim Plough said in a released statement. “It was a priority for us to find an elite coach that could create a special environment for the Ags in that phase of the game. The expectation is for us to impact every contest in the special teams phase and I’m thrilled to have Eric lead that for us. Not only is he a talented coach, but he’s also a great husband and father. We are excited to welcome Eric and his family to Shredville.”

Raisbeck came to Penn State in 2020. Before that, he spent a year at Utah State. There, he was on staff with Stacy Collins. The now former Lions special teams coordinator left Franklin’s staff earlier this month to take a job at Boise State, where he coached in 2021, of course.

“I am honored to have been selected by Coach Plough as your Special Teams Coordinator,” Raisbeck said in a released statement. “I’m eager to work with these incredible student-athletes. I look forward to contributing to the vision Coach Plough has for this program, and the rich history and traditions of UC Davis. My wife and two sons are fired up to join the Davis community. Go Aggies!”

UC Davis is a member of the FCS’ Big Sky Conference.

Tracking Penn State 2024 staff changes to date

Penn State has hired five new analysts this offseason. Zach Terrill and Jeff McInerney are new to the staff. The Lions also brought former graduate assistant Mark Dupuis back in an analyst role earlier this month. He spent the last four seasons as the wide receivers coach at Old Dominion. Additionally, the program has added Bill Queisert and Thomas Allen in the analyst department. They came to Penn State with new coordinators Andy Kotelnicki (offense) and Tom Allen (defense), respectively. Analysts who have moved on include Ola Adams (now the defensive backs coach at Indiana), Rick Lyster and Gabe Infante (who took on-field roles with Manny Diaz at Duke), and Calvin Lowry, who is now the running backs coach at Middle Tennessee State.

The Lions also lost Khalil Ahmad from the recruiting department. He took a promotion at Syracuse. Assistant recruiting coordinator for operations and visits Shannon Wellman has moved on, as well. She is replaced by recent Penn State alum Karsyn Kehler. Ahmad’s position is still open.

As of Wednesday, the on-field staff changes for Penn State are at the coordinator spots. The aforementioned Kotlenicki and Allen replace Mike Yurcich and Diaz, respectively. Justin Lustig from Vanderbilt is replacing Collins as the team’s special teams coordinator. Otherwise, the rest of Franklin’s 10-man assistant coaching staff is still intact as the offseason begins.
