Penn State news, notes, and updates for Feb. 28 include a former Lion landing a coordinator role in the PAC-12, plus much more.

It’s time to dive into Tuesday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with an update on former All-Big Ten Penn State cornerback D’Anton Lynn. The former Baltimore Ravens safeties coach was announced as UCLA’s new defensive coordinator on Monday. He replaces Bill McGovern, who is moving into an off-field role on head coach Chip Kelly’s Bruins staff.

“We are excited to add D’Anton to our staff as defensive coordinator,” Kelly said in a released statement. “His energy and enthusiasm, along with his experience, will make an immediate impact. I look forward to watching him develop our players both on and off the field.”

This is Lynn’s first college job. It’s also his first with play calling duties. After a short NFL career, he broke into the pro coaching ranks with the New York Jets. He’d later work in Buffalo, Los Angles, and Houston before spending the last two seasons in Baltimore.

In other news, a pair of Lions staffers are attending the NFL Women’s Forum. Now in its seventh year, the multi-day event “will connect 41 women, 60% of whom are women of color, with leaders in professional football to provide insight and networking opportunities for their careers in the areas of scouting, coaching and football operations,” according to a news release. Penn State is represented by assistant to the head coach, Heidi Erb, and recruiting coordinator for communications strategy Hunter Carson.

Finally, for this section, John Scott Jr., is leaving Penn State after three seasons for a job with the Detroit Lions.
