Four-star running back Shahn Alston includes Penn State among Top 8
Penn State already has one running back committed in its Class of 2026, but that hasn’t stopped assistant coach Ja’Juan Seider and the recruiting staff from recruiting others. Back in the summer, Painesville, Ohio, native Shahn Alston became one of those players that fans need to watch closely after an impressive showing at camp.
That led to another visit in November for the game against Ohio State, and following that trip, he made it no secret that the Nittany Lions were one of the
“The visit was great and it was probably the best game day atmosphere I have seen,” Alston told On3. “This was the first time I visited for a game and it definitely lived up to the hype.
He later add, “Penn State is one of my top teams. They’ve done a great job and I am looking forward to continue building my relationship with them.”
On Friday, Alston included the Nittany Lions among his top eight schools, joining Auburn, Florida, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Wisconsin and USC.

Friday Five: Bold predictions for Penn State’s trip to Minnesota
“These schools stand out because of the great visits I had at five of the schools as well as the relationships I have with all of these schools,” Alston told On3. “All these schools contact me every day and I have great relationships with not only the running backs coach, but other staff members and this group of schools has separated themselves from the pack.”
Among his top schools, Alston still has to check out Auburn, Florida and Nebraska. Penn State is the school he’s seen most so far, totaling three visits as he also traveled to campus in March to watch spring practice. After a visit to USC last weekend, there’s a belief that the Trojans may be PSU’s top competitor currently.
“I want to take some more visits, and I would really like to see all eight schools one more time before I commit. Committing early would give me a chance to recruit and help build a class around me, so I am shooting for a commitment around March or April.
In eight games this season, Alston has totaled 131 carries for 1,104 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also caught 14 passes for 184 yards and a score. On3 currently has Alston ranked No. 133 nationally and 15th overall at the running back position. He’s also the seventh-ranked player in Ohio.
