Penn State secures official visit with top safety target Vaboue Toure
Penn State has locked up another June official visit with one of the staff’s most important defensive backs in New Jersey native Vaboue Toure. The four-star prospect from Irvington confirmed via Twitter Thursday night that he’ll make his way to State College during the second major recruiting weekend, June 9-11.
So far, Toure has taken three visits to Penn State. Two of those trips came in recent months, as Toure attended the game against Ohio State in October. He then returned in January. Instead of attending a junior day the prior day, Toure came into town the final day of the contact period, Jan. 29. Since he was the only defensive back on campus that day, it gave him an opportunity to spend the entire day with safeties coach Anthony Poindexter.
“What I enjoyed most about the visit was getting to sit down and chop up my film and some game film with Coach Poindexter,” Toure said following his most recent visit. “One thing that stood out to me was the new weight room, simply because I had never seen it before. It amazed me.”

As of now, Penn State is the only school that Toure has locked in an official visit to. Visits this spring will likely impact what other schools he sees. In fact, Toure is actually set to visit Oklahoma this weekend for the first time. The Sooners offered a month ago, Feb. 3.
In 2022, Toure also visited Notre Dame, Ohio State and Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights have hosted him substantially more than any other school. That’s partly because his brother, Famah, is currently on the roster. He also has a former teammate, Adon Shuler, who plays at Notre Dame.

Toure is the third Class of 2024 prospect to lock in an official visit to Penn State. That same weekend, he’ll be joined by Georgia tight end Caleb Odom. Odon is the third-ranked tight end in the country and has never visited Penn State before.
The other confirmed official visit is set for June 2-4, as cornerback Jon Mitchell has locked in a date as well. The Jacksonville native previously attended Penn State’s White Out win over Minnesota in October.
On3 has Toure as the third-ranked safety in the country and the top player in New Jersey for the Class of 2024.
