How is Beaver Stadium looking six weeks before Penn State football returns? Take a look here: PHOTOS

Penn State football sits six weeks — or 43 days, as of July 18, to be exact — from its opener with Nevada on Aug. 30. That is important for many groups of people, but two tower above all others in that regard. It goes without saying that 12th-year leader of the Lions James Franklin must have his team ready to roll by then. But, a different group of people has a similarly important task: Ensuring that Beaver Stadium is ready for game day.
Ever since the press box felling event took place back on Jan. 4, everyone from project managers to construction crew leaders to athletic director Pat Kraft knew the countdown was on to get as much work done as possible on the $700 million, multi-year renovation project at the home of Penn State football before it was time to erect temporary bleachers to replace what was knocked down for the season. That time has come, and the work on it continues today. If you need proof, check out a screenshot of Weatherstem’s Beaver Stadium live feed below.

Take a closer look at Penn Sate football’s Beaver Stadium
Earlier this week, Blue-White Illustrated stopped by the stadium for a look at the progress that is being made. Penn State Athletics posted some fresh interior construction shots around the same time, as well. We’ve rounded up both in a gallery below so you can see where things stand as of the week of July 14.

It’s hyperbolic to say that work will continue right up to kickoff. But, it’ll probably be close to that. Eventually, though, the construction footprint will remain but the work itself will mostly if not entirely stop for the season. Then, a similar push will begin anew next winter to continue building what will eventually be the renovated home of Penn State football.
