How to watch Penn State football opposite Illinois: Time, channel, streaming info, and more
Penn State opens Big Ten play on the road for the eighth consecutive season and 13th time in 14 years this week. The No. 7 Nittany Lions (2-0) travel to Illinois (1-1) for their first conference game of the 2023 slate. The Fighting Illini won the last meeting between the two sides back in 2021. But, PSU holds a commanding lead all-time ahead of the two sides’ 27th meeting.
“They’re really, really good,” Illinois defensive coordinator Aaron Henry said this week. “They’re really talented. They do what they do, and I think they do it really well. The quarterback, Allar, I mean, he has a beautiful arm. He’s long, he’s pretty. He’s pretty athletic and moves extremely well in the pocket. They got two running backs that I believe could start anywhere in the country. They’re very physical downhill runners. They pride themselves on running the ball.”
Penn State coach James Franklin offered insight on this week’s opponent during his Tuesday news conference.
“I think [quarterback] Luke Altmyer, the young man from Ole Miss, has really helped them,” Franklins said. “Came in in the Toledo game and drove them right down the field. I thought last week was able to make plays with not just his arm, but with his legs as well. I think he had a 72-yard touchdown.
“And then defensively, Aaron Henry. As we know, [Bret] Bielema is also involved on the defense. But they’re an odd front or Okie front defense. We been impressed with their personnel. Been a lot of talk about their personnel all off-season.”
