The Penn State men’s hockey team opens play in the NCAA Tournament tonight. Head coach Guy Gadowsky’s Nittany Lions finished the regular season on a scorching hot run to put themselves first into the Big Ten tournament — where they beat Michigan before losing to Ohio State in the semifinals — and now the national one.

“What this team has done to make the tournament is incredible and they did it by staying together and staying positive when they very easily could have thrown in the towel,” Gadowsky told GoPSUSports. “They’ve really impressed me and they’ve done it in the most fun way.”

This is the fourth time Penn State has made the NCAA Tournament. It’s also their second appearance in the last three seasons.
