How to watch Penn State wrestling vs. Lehigh: Time, TV channel, projected lineups, more
Penn State wrestling hosts its first dual meet of the 2023-2024 regular season today. Head coach Cael Sanderson’s No. 1 Nittany Lions welcomes No. 15 Lehigh to Rec Hall for a non-conference matchup. PSU has won 10 straight duals against the Mountain Hawks dating back to 2012. It scored a 24-12 triumph in Bethlehem a year ago.
Lehigh is 0-1 after falling to Pittsburgh 21-12 last Sunday. The Lions, meanwhile, are coming off of crowning five champions at last weekend’s Black Knight Invitational at Army. They were also successful at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic two weeks ago as multiple Penn State wrestlers went undefeated. Then, back on Tuesday, four of five Nittany Lions won their individual bouts at the NWCA All-Star Classic in State College, which was an exhibition event that matters only to in-season rankings and postseason seeding.
“It felt good to be back in Rec Hall,” Aaron Brooks, the multi-time NCAA champ who is now occupying the 197-pound starting spot in the Lions lineup, told PennLive after beating South Dakota State’s Tanner Sloan 11-3 in the All-Star Classic. “It’s a different atmosphere and nothing matches it.”

“I think we’re ready to wrestle,” Sanderson said. “Obviously, a big matchup with Lehigh. A lot of tradition and very strong program and a great coaching staff. So it’s always a great match. So yeah, we’re excited to compete and return to Rec Hall and get our first dual of the year going.”

What are the top matches to watch?
As is always the case, Lehigh is brining a lot of talented wrestlers with All-American and national title aspirations to face Penn State. The undisputed bout of the match will come at 133 pounds. Lions transfer Aaron Nagao, who was an All-American a year ago, has the chance to top Mountain Hawk Ryan Crookham. It is the first collegiate meeting between the two top five wrestlers. Crookahm is No. 5 by InterMat and No. 1 via FLO. Nagao is Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.
Other ranked bouts on the projected card include No. 2 Beau Bartlett against No. 10 Malyke Hines at 141 pounds. The Nittany Lion beat the Mountain Hawk 7-0 during last year’s dual meet. At 157, 2022-2023 NCAA runner-up Levi Haines, who is now the top-ranked wrestler in that weight class, faces No. 24 Max Brignola. Lions newcomer Mitchell Mesenbrink, who is No. 16 at 165 pounds, will face No. 32 Jake Logan. And, two terrific bouts will close the card. Aaron Brooks, who is No. 1 at 197 pounds, will face off with former teammate and second-year Lehigh grappler Michael Beard, who is ranked No. 10. And, at heavyweight, No. 1 Greg Kerkvliet should meet No. 12 Nate Taylor.
