Penn State wrestling returns to the mat today. The No. 1 Nittany Lions travel to the PPL Center in Allentown this afternoon to take on No. 14 Lehigh. Numerous ranked battles are expected in front of a sold out crowd. The Nittany Lions lead the all-time series between the two schools 73-34-3.

“I mean, Pennsylvania is known for wrestling at the high school and the collegiate level,” Lions coach Cael Sanderson said this week. “Lehigh is just one of those matches that goes back many, many years,” Sanderson said this week. “It’s just a rivalry that our alumni, when I first got here, you could tell it was just one of the more important matches to them and the tradition and history.

“And they’ve (Lehigh) kicked our butts a few times, so it makes it a little bit more fun, but the match is always competitive. They’re just a great program, so we’re excited to see where we’re at.”

We get you ready for the match below. We will also have running updates as it unfolds. Note: This page does not update automatically. So, please refresh your browser often to see the latest information.

Projected starting lineups

Penn State is hoping freshman Braeden Davis can return to the mat after missing the Army Black Knight Invitational two weeks ago. Lehigh will be favored at least in two matches. No. 1 Ryan Crookham is set to take on Davis, who is ranked No. 10 at 133 pounds, assuming the Nittany Lion is a go. At 197 pounds, former Nittany Lion and current Mountain Hawks senior No. 6 Michael Beard will likely battle No. 23 Nittany Lion Joshua Barr. There will be a toss-up, then, at 125 pounds between Penn State freshman Luke Liiedahl, who is ranked No. 16, and Lehigh senior Sheldon Seymour, who is No. 15.

See the full projected lineups below and note that things can change up until and also after weigh-ins. The Penn State wrestler in bold-face type indicates which Nittany Lion we believe will wrestle in any OR situations.
