No. 1 Penn State is ready for its final two matches of the Big Ten regular season. The Nittany Lions kick off their final double dual weekend tonight at No. 8 Ohio State. Then, head coach Cael Sanderson’s team travels to Illinois to close out the conference portion of its schedule on Sunday.

“It’s one of the better teams they’ve had, and maybe the best team they’ve had,” Buckeyes assistant coach Logan Stieber told reporters in Columbus this week. “They have a really good team up and down the lineup. So there’s a lot of matches that we feel like if we can wrestle to our ability, and fight the whole time, we’re going to be happy afterwards.

“So I think that’s going to be the main goal our guys is, can you fight for seven minutes, and can you wrestle freely? Can you wrestle freely and look to score? And I think we can be happy with the dual meet if we do that. But if we don’t come to fight, then it could be not very good for us.”

Projected starting lineups

The headliner bout comes at 141 pounds. There, No. 3 Beau Bartlett looks to end a two-match losing streak opposite No. 1 Buckeye Jesse Mendez at 141 pounds. The Ohio State wrestler beat the Penn State senior in last year’s NCAA final and also at this year’s NWCA All-Star Classic. Another doozy will take place at 174 pounds, where No. 1 Levi Haines wrestles No. 5 Carson Kharchla.

Penn State enters the match with two big injury questions. It’s unclear if Braeden Davis will go at 133. The same goes for Tyler Kasak at 157. Ohio State projects to send No. 11 Nic Bouzakis and Brandon Cannon to the mat for those weights, respectively. Our guess is that Davis will go and Kasak will not.

Here’s a look at the projected starting lineups. Note that they could change after weigh-ins:

125 pounds: No. 7 Luke Liledahl, PSU vs. No. 21 Brendan McCrone, Ohio State

133 pounds: No. 8 Braeden Davis OR Kyison Garcia, PSU vs. No. 11 Nic Bouzakis, Ohio State

141 pounds: No. 3 Beau Bartlett, PSU vs. No. 1 Jesse Mendez, Ohio State

149 pounds: No. 2 Shayne Van Ness, PSU vs. No. 7 Dylan D’Emilio, Ohio State

157 pounds: No. 1 Tyler Kasak OR Connor Pierce OR David Evans, PSU vs. Brandon Cannon, Ohio State

165 pounds: No. 1 Mitchell Mesenbrink, PSU vs. Brock Herman, Ohio State

174 pounds: No. 2 Levi Haines, PSU vs. No. 5 Carson Kharchla, Ohio State

184 pounds: No. 1 Carter Staorcci, PSU vs. No. 18 Ryder Rogotzke, Ohio State

197 pounds: No. 3 Josh Barr, PSU vs. No. 23 Seth Shumate, Ohio State
