How to watch Penn State basketball vs. Le Moyne
Mike Rhoades didn’t hide his disappointment over Penn State basketball’s latest setback. Dropping an 82-81 overtime decision to Georgia Tech on Saturday in New York, his Nittany Lions were turned away by a brutal late-game call leading to the loss.
Unable to change the result after the fact, the experience again demonstrated a persistence that Rhoades is determined to utilize moving forward.
“I was proud of our guys’ effort,” Rhoades said this week on the BWI hoops podcast. “Our style of play is exciting. We can get after it. We sure are up and down, but we have a level of fight in us that I think people at Penn State and a lot of people are telling me they’re very proud of, and the last eight minutes of that game, you saw that fight and the press and what the press can do for you.
“I loved our guys’ approach going down the stretch and in overtime. It’s unfortunate that it ended that way. But that’s life. That’s how it goes.”
And, accordingly, life must go on for the Nittany Lions.
Hosting Le Moyne on Thursday night at the Bryce Jordan Center (7 p.m., Peacock), Penn State will get that opportunity to move forward as it looks to rebound with a boost of confidence heading into a short Christmas break.

“I think we really got to get better from now and into January,” Rhoades said. “We got a good Le Moyne team who’s dangerous coming in here. We’ve got to be ready to play them. Then let’s take a little break, go home, eat some good home cooking, and get back here and get to work.”

Penn State injury updates
- Favour Aire remains on the mend with a broken finger. “He’ll be able to start getting some contact here soon. Hopefully we will have him back sooner than later,” Rhoades said last week. “But an injury like that is day to day stuff now. So we’ll see how he feels.”
Rhoades added that he anticipated that there will be a process of getting back into action for Aire, having missed every game thus far this season.
“You got to figure out how to get back in and not mess up the flow of what we’re trying to do. To get on the court after an injury, you gotta have some really good practices, create trust with the staff and your teammates and, and then just keep working on finding the way you can help,” Rhoades said. “You got to build great reps in practice and build that trust with the staff and continue to find a way to get into the flow of everything. We’ll help him as we move along. But he’s got some time here to get in shape over break and get back into the flow of things.” - Shooting guard Jameel Brown is out with an unspecified foot injury. “Jameel is still in the boot, but hopefully, we’ll just follow the doctor’s plans here,” Rhoades said. “So hopefully we’ll get him back sooner than later as well.”
