In-state DT Palepale added to Penn State weekend visitor list
Penn State’s recruiting visitor list will be a light one this weekend, but Landisville (Pa.) Hempfield defensive lineman Deyvid Palepale will be in attendance. The Nittany Lions offered the in-state defensive tackle two weeks ago and he’ll be taking in his first Beaver Stadium game experience on Saturday.
“I’m looking forward to it all,” he said on Thursday morning. “Definitely looking forward to seeing the coaching staff and the players. But I also heard that they have one of the best environments, so I’m excited for that as well.”
Penn State was the second Power Five school to extend an offer to the 6-foot-2, 305-pound prospect back on Sept. 4. Louisville and Temple have also offered and Virginia Tech and West Virginia are among the programs tracking him early this season. He visited Temple last week as well.
“It really does mean the world to me,” Palepale told BWI’s Ryan Snyder of the Nittany Lions’ offer earlier this month. “It just kind of shows, and I know this is cliche, but it shows that hard work pays off. It’s just nice to have an example of that. All those endless nights working out, the grind that was put into it. It means a lot. I also know that I have so much more work to do, but it’s nice knowing that people are seeing the work I’m putting in.”

Penn State saw Palepale at camp this summer
Palepale grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, before moving to Central Pennsylvania a few years back. He enrolled at Hempfield as a freshman and began playing varsity ball as a sophomore. He camped for the Penn State staff in Happy Valley on July 29 and has been in touch with the recruiting staff since Sept. 1.
“They sent out a brochure, which was basically the bat signal for me to call them,” he said. “I reached out to [Alan Zemaitis], and when I did, they were having a scrimmage. We were just talking and that’s how I really got the recruiting process started. They said that they got film sent out to them and they liked it, and that’s how I popped up on their radar. Ever since then, they’ve just been checking in.”
While there have been no predictions logged on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Nittany Lions have a commanding lead according to the metric.
