The Penn State offense once again failed to score points against the Ohio State defense despite a spirited, if not uneven, performance from the defense. After the game, quarterback Drew Allar spoke with reporters about his team’s loss and the key situations that led to only six offensive points. Penn State offense fails to put up points for the second straight year

Allar summed up the day for the Penn State offense to begin his conversation with the media.

“It comes down to the little things that caught up with us today. Playing behind the sticks is something we don’t want to do against a talented team against a good defensive coordinator, schematically. We just gotta go back tot the drawing board and reflect on the things that we did well, things that we didn’t do well. And then come away from it and make the corrections, flush it tomorrow night, and move on,” Allar said.

Despite the team’s struggles all day, the offense had a shot from the goal line on fourth down to potentially tie the game at 20. However, Allar threw an incompletion to the back of the end zone. He broke down the play for reporters.

“It was just a pass we wanted to get to Ty Warren. The Safety or nickel did a good job of playing over the top of it and driving it. It would have been a bang-bang play short of the goal line or incomplete. So then I was looking for Dink [Khalil Dinkins], but we didn’t connect on it.”

The season isn’t over but the loss stings

“It sucks to lose.”

That’s how Allar summed up his feeling compared to the loss to Ohio State last year. However, Penn State’s season is far from over. The team has just one loss heading into a winnable stretch of games. Allar wants to let his team grieve the loss but is focused on bouncing back.

“It’s a long season in general,” Allar said. “We talked about that we can’t let one turn into two and turn into three. We have to right the wrongs that we made today.”

Allar finished the game, completing 60% of his passes for 146 yards but failed to find the end zone on multiple tries. He threw a potential touchdown to Penn State receiver Trey Wallace before halftime, but the ball bounced off of Wallace and into the arms of Ohio State defensive back Davison Igbinosun.
