Jame Franklin weekly press conference
As usual, Franklin began his press conference with an opening statement reviewing the previous game. The Nittany Lions had plenty of positives to take away from the game, but Franklin also pointed out several areas of improvement for the team. He highlighted the team’s ability to run the ball effectively but explained that there are still areas of growth for the offensive line.
Franklin isn’t ready to pound the table for his offensive line yet, but he’s happy with their progress. He also addressed the different style they used last week against Auburn and if having a running back in a single-back set under center helped the offensive line with physicality and push at the snap.
Franklin also discusses the hammer that his defensive players carried around during the game the last several weeks, the origins of where that came from, and its function. He explains how new defensive coordinator Manny Diaz brought the idea to the team.

Penn State players discussed
Media members ask about several individual players such as Brenton Strange, Abdul Carter, and Kaytron Allen. He also sheds some light on the personality of freshman superstar Nick Singleton and how he’s built to withstand the issues that come with early success as a football player.
Another major media discussion topic was Eli’s Places sketch that Omaha Media did in conjunction with Penn State. Super Bowl champion quarterback Eli Manning went undercover for a Penn State tryout earlier this season, and the first few teaser trailers came out this week. Franklin discussed his relationship with the Mannings, how the skit went down, and more.
