Penn State news, notes, and updates for Dec. 13 include an honor for Joey Porter Jr., plus new Nittany Lion offers, an important in-home visit, and much more.

It’s time to dive into Monday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with Porter Jr. He was a second-team All-American selection by the voters at The Associated Press. The Penn State corner has now made numerous first- or second-team All-American lists. He has already opted out of the Rose Bowl and started preparing for the 2023 NFL Draft.

“I’m proud of him,” Penn State coach James Franklin said two Sundays ago after Porter Jr., returned from an appendectomy to finish the regular season.

“And for him to be able to fight and battle and try to come back as quickly as he did from his medical situation, which was the appendicitis during the season, and do everything he possibly could to try to get back, I think that was very telling on his commitment to his teammates and his commitment to this program and university. So I’m proud of him and we’re going to be there to support him every step of the way.”

In other news, Penn State sent out a couple of new offers on Monday. In the high school ranks, the Lions joined the race for Philadelphia St. Joe’s Prep Class of 2025 defensive lineman Maxwell Roy. And, in the transfer portal, Penn State entered the mix for former Wake Forest corner Gavin Holmes.

Finally, for this section, Penn State had an in-home visit with Class of 2023 defensive line target Mason Robinson on Monday fresh off his official visit to State College.

Quote of the day

“I feel very comfortable with them and my mom likes Penn State a lot, too, so of course, it’s a good relationship. I like what they do there, too. When I was at the game, coach told me to watch their defense, so I watched No. 20 [Adisa Isaac] a lot and No. 33 [Dani Dennis-Sutton]. They’re very good players and a great defense.”
