It’s time to dive into Tuesday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with a statement from John Scott Jr. Roughly a week after Penn State head coach James Franklin wished him well following reports that he’d be leaving the Nittany Lions for a job with the Detroit Lions, the third-year assistant released a message of his own.

I couldn’t be more thankful to Coach Franklin and Penn State for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this family the past three seasons,” Scott Jr., wrote. “It has been an honor to learn and grow alongside such an incredible coaching and support staff. I’m grateful to have worked with the best in the country. To the players and specifically the defensive line, the opportunity to work with you and the memories we’ve made is something I will always cherish. To see you guys grind daily and grow as men has made me immensely proud. We accomplished so much, and I can’t wait to see you all continue to grow and succeed on and off the field.

“My family is forever grateful for our time here and we will certainly miss Happy Valley. Thank you, Penn State!”

In other news, Pro Football Focus has released its 2023 way-too-early All-Amercian team. Penn State cornerback Kalen King made the cut.

Joey Porter Jr. received all of the love in Penn State’s secondary and is a projected first-round pick, but King was the true star this past season,” Max Chadwick writes.

“In single-coverage, the sophomore led all corners in the country with a 93.3 grade and 18.3 passer rating allowed. His 15 forced incompletions in single-coverage were tied for third among FBS corners as well.”

Quote of the day

“We were doing certain drills, and if you don’t get the technique right, you don’t move on to the next drill until you get it right. That’s something I really liked. I felt like we meshed well.”
