Latest Penn State practice news; Micah Parsons earns honor from NFL legend: Newsstand
Penn State news, notes, and updates for Nov. 3 include the latest from the Lions’ practice field, plus an honor for Micah Parsons and a new recruiting offer.
It’s time to dive into Thursday’s top tweets and headlines about PSU and football.
Penn State tweets of the day
We start with former Penn State defender Micah Parsons earning recognition from an all-time NFL great. Now working for The 33rd Team, Hall of Famer Ed Reed picked Parsons as his second-ever ‘Most Dominating Player of the Month.’ In October, Parsons had 26 tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and two passes defended.
“This guy does everything,” Reed said. “He does it all. He’s doing it all, did it all last month, and hopefully he can keep it up and keep those Dallas Cowboys running toward the playoffs.”
In other news, Penn State coach James Franklin held his final media session before the Lions take on Indiana Saturday in Bloomington. Despite being asked, there continues to be no reason to believe that a quarterback change is on the horizon. And, uncertainty continues to abound along the offense line, where tackles Olu Fashanu and Caedan Wallace plus guard Landon Tengwall, all appear to be dealing with injuries. None are season-ending. But, if one of them is unavailable, it will lead to an even bigger role for already oft-used utility man Bryce Effner, who can play inside and out.
“(He) has played all year long,” Franklin said. “We expect him to have a bigger role. Obviously, we got some bumps and bruises across the offensive line. So, he’s played a significant role all year long. And, he’ll play more, probably this week.”

Quote of the day
“I’m a big fan of Jerry. He got hurt in the summer. So, he had missed a bunch of time, but he’s getting close to being back full go. He’s been awesome. though. He’s got a huge smile on his face, he’s worked extremely hard, he’s changed his body. Our training staff loves him. The strength staff loves him.
“He’s doing really well. He’ll be a guy that hopefully towards the end of the season, we’ll have an opportunity to get some work and get some reps. We’ll just see how that plays out.”
