Questions in the room

On Drew Allar:

If you look at him, if the stats are right, Drew was 21-29 for 325 yards and three touchdowns. Obviously, something really good to build on, with no turnovers. Like he said last week, the one ball should have been a turnover. They’ll grade it as an interception throw. You’re going to make that throw in the red zone, you need to put it high. But besides that, did a really good job managing the game from decision making standpoint. He’s poised, mobile for a big guy, keeps eyes up.

And then spread the ball around to nine receivers. That was good too.

Opening statement

Appreciates fan support, media coming out to cover the program. Special environment.

Stats that told the story: Won field position, won penalties (good sign of disciplined team), turnover battle was a tie (unusual that neither team turned it over), that quarterback is good. He’s mobile, extends plays, is accurate. And explosive plays, won that.

Great to get seven first-time starters on the field.

Drew Allar first quarterback to throw for 300 yards in a season opener since 2014. Second-most by QB in first start. Lots of really good there.

Awesome to see so many lettermen back. First game comes before NFL.

And then at the end of the game, good to get twos and threes in. Fact that they got playing time was very valuable. Now can coach those guys and correct from it. But prefer not to give up the score.

And to get second offense in, with backup QB, and get a score was also big.

Inconsistent in all three phases. Need to clean it up. But will enjoy this and make corrections tomorrow.
