Recap: Penn State blasts Purdue from start to finish in 49-10 road triumph

Final score: Penn State 49, Purdue 10

The Lions are now 9-1. Tyler Warren had 190 all purposes yards and Drew Allar threw three touchdowns in the victory.

Touchdown, Purdue: The Boilermakers score and Lions defensive end Jaylen Harvey is down on the field after the play. Unfortunately it appears to be a non-contact injury. Teammates are helping him off the field.

The Penn State backups could not get anything going on its latest drive. Purdue now has it across midfield.

Touchdown, Penn State: Beau Pribula takes off on a keeper and scampers 49 yards for a score. There might be more people at your local grocery store tomorrow than what will be here for the fourth quarter. Lions lead 42-3 with :32 left in the third quarter.

Sack: Coziah Izzard grabs Browne and Abdul Carter finishes the job. Purdue will punt yet again with about three minutes to go in the third quarter.

Touchdown, Penn State: Drew Allar finally found Trey Wallace all along in the back of the end zone, set his feet, and fired a 46-yard scoring strike. The Lions now lead Purdue 35-3 with 4:42 to go in the third quarter.

Purdue to punt again

A drive filled with multiple penalties on Purdue and an injury timeout for defensive backs Tyrece Mills and Cam Miller finally ends with a punt. Both Nittany Lions walked off without help but Mills did go to the injury tent. Penn State takes back over at its own 23.

Tyler Warren’s big day continues as Lions add to their lead

Touchdown, Penn State: Tyler Warren takes a direct snap and runs 48 yards for a score. He now has two carries for 56 yards and a score and also seven catches on seven targets for 119 yards and a touchdown. The Lions now lead 28-7 early in the third quarter.

The second half is underway

And unsurprisingly, it starts with a quick three and out for Purdue. The Lions had their first team defense in and it gave the Boilermakers plenty of problems. Lions will take over at their own 42.

Purdue’s field goal to end the half is no good. Penn State 21, Purdue 3 at the half. Lions have a 261-166 yards advantage. The Boilermakers get the ball first to start the second half.

Drew Allar dumps it off to Kaytron Allen for a few on third down but not enough and Penn State will punt it away with 1:34 left in the first half.

Penn State will have 3rd and 8 at its own 40 coming out of the two minute timeout. It leads Purdue 21-3 late in the first half.

Purdue will punt again as Card throws another third down incompletion. There is 3:56 left in the first half.

Touchdown, Penn State: Nick Singleton runs in for a 10-yard score one play after Tyler Warren’s 38-yard catch and run. The Lions are now up 21-3 on Purdue with 6:04 left in the first half. This scoring drive covered six plays in 65 yards. It took just 2:43.

Penn State ran a pitch with Pribula to Allen on third down that went absolutely no where. Lions will punt to start the second quarter. They lead Purdue 14-0 after the first 15 minutes. Riley Thompson punts it to the Purdue 24. Boilermakers third drive of the day will start there.

More boos for the Purdue offense as a Dominic DeLuca pressure leads to another Card throwaway on third down. Purdue will punt again. There is left than a minute left in the first quarter.

Penn State builds its lead

Touchdown Penn State: Drew Allar to Tyler Warren for a 15-yard touchdown. The Lions now lead Purdue 14-0 with 2:31 to go in the first quarter after cashing in on a 10-play. 93-yard drive. Warren has six catches on six targets for 81 yards.

Purdue goes three and out

Boos are already flying at Ross-Ade Stadium as Purdue starts with a three and out. Dani Dennis-Sutton recorded a sack on second down and Tony Rojas had a quarterback hurry on third down. PSU takes over at its own 7 with 8:05 to go in the first quarter.

Penn State strikes first

The opening kickoff is a touchback

Penn State-Purdue is underway at Ross-Ade Stadium. The sun is shining and Kaytron Allen starts at running back for the Lions.

Penn State will receive

Penn State’s Dom DeLuca calls tails. It falls heads. Purdue defers to the second half. The Nittany Lions will get the opening kickoff and move right to left first on your television screen.

Former Nittany Lion Cole Brevard was the first of a number of Boilermakers honored before Purdue takes on Penn State.

Today’s referee is Jerry McGinn. The replay official is Jerry McGinn. Penn State starters look to be all the same as last week. Kickoff is set for about 3:40 p.m. ET.

Penn State availability report

For Penn State, receiver Kaden Saunders, safety KJ Winston Jr., running back Cam Wallace, linebackers Keon Wylie, tight end Andrew Rappleyea, and defensive end Zuriah Fisher are OUT. No Lions are questionable.

The key takeaway is that Singleton is not on the list. He was hurt in the second of last week’s win. But, now, he’s good to go for game day. And, Dani Dennis-Sutton is no longer questionable. That was the case last week. So, he may be full go now, too.

For Purdue there are no starters or key reserves out. The Boilermakers appear to be healthy.
