Penn State tweets of the day

We start with an update from Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The home of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons and host of the Peach Bowl has a retractable roof. All signs this week point toward the venue electing to keep it closed for game day. It has now confirmed that will be the case.

“The roof will be CLOSED on Saturday for @PennStateFball vs. @OleMissFB,” the stadium’s social media account posted. “Temps are forecasted with a high in the 40’s and even though Penn State fans may be comfortable in those temps, we don’t open the roof when its near freezing. Enjoy the 72 degrees inside MBS!”

Penn State and Ole Miss are meeting for the first time. The Lions are a 4.5-point favorite. Both teams have spoken highly of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the days preceding kickoff.

“It’s definitely a cool stadium,” Penn State cornerback and punt returner Daequan Hardy said. “I’ve only been in like three NFL stadiums, but it’s definitely a cool stadium. I like it a lot. Just had to get adjusted to the lighting. It will be fun to play in there for sure.”

Kickoff is at Noon ET. ESPN will televise the contest.

Quote of the day

“Last year, I wasn’t in the right headspace to take that next step. But I feel like now I’ve been working on it in a group and being a leader in that linebacker room for two straight years. It’s just about finding what your role is; I’ve been really good at that. And this year, I’ve prepared to play any and every role. So I feel like the growth of the game in that aspect has been really good for me.”
