Penn State news, notes, and updates for Feb. 21 include recognition for Micah Parsons, plus a recruiting nugget and more.

It’s time to dive into Wednesday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with Lions alum Micah Parsons. The Pa., native, Penn State All-American, and three-time Pro Bowl pick had the NFL’s highest-selling jersey last year, according to Lids Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker TJ Watt, and Parsons’ Dallas Cowboys teammate, quarterback Dak Prescott, rounded out the top five in that order.

“The power of the Cowboys in Texas carried Parsons to the top spot,” Adam Wells writes for Bleacher Report. “It was the only state that he had the best-selling jersey. Hurts had the best-selling jersey in 13 different states, most among all players. Mahomes’ jersey was the top seller in nine states.”

In other news, four-star Class of 2025 Maryland defensive line Trent Wilson has locked in a number of spring visits. The 6-foot-3, 260-pound top-100 recruit will see Oklahoma (March 9), Texas A&M (March 23), Ohio State (March 30) and Penn State (April 13), according to On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons. Wilson aims to make a decision this summer.

“They have a lot of DMV guys and coaches up there,” Wilson said of Penn State “So they can relate a lot to me, and the effort they show when I come on campus is impressive. A couple times when I come on campus, the whole coaching staff is there just to meet me. And that meant a lot to me. They just show they really want me, and that means a lot to me. The players they put into the NFL and how they play at the collegiate level is also impressive.”

Quote of the day

“For me with this opportunity coming up, I’m trying to take as much advantage as I can from it. I’m doing what I can to prove to the coaches, prove to my family, prove to myself that I came to Penn State for a reason. There hasn’t been much thought into the depth chart or anything like that. I go day by day, trying to get 1% better every day.”
