Penn State tweets of the day
We start with the most surprising news of the day.
Penn State and the rest of the college sports world learned that the NCAA will have a new leader next year on Tuesday night.
Current president Mark Emmert will step down by the start of next summer at the latest. However, it’s possible that he’ll be out sooner if his replacement is picked before June of 2023.
“Throughout my tenure I’ve emphasized the need to focus on the experience and priorities of student-athletes,” Emmert said in a released statement.
“I am extremely proud of the work of the Association over the last 12 years and especially pleased with the hard work and dedication of the national office staff here in Indianapolis.”
NCAA Board of Governors Chair John J. DeGioia also weighed in.
“With the significant transitions underway within college sports, the timing of this decision provides the Association with consistent leadership during the coming months plus the opportunity to consider what will be the future role of the president,” DeGioia said. “It also allows for the selection and recruitment of the next president without disruption.”

In other news, former Penn State wrestler and two-time NCAA champion Nick Lee is joining the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club. He will train there with other Olympic hopefuls now that his collegiate career has come to a close. It is based out of State College, of course. Lee will still be able to train with current Penn State wrestlers, as well, which is one of the ways the NLWC benefits Lions wrestling in a major way.
Finally, for this section, we do have some football news.
Penn State offered Princeton, N.J., Hun School Class of 2023 offensive tackle Logan Howland on Tuesday night. The 6-foot-6, 280-pound recruit has been picking up steam of late. Next, it will be interesting to see whether or not he sets a visit to see the Lions this summer.

Quote of the day
“They want me to play cornerback and safety, and a little bit of nickel. They want me to be kick returner also. Which I love to do. I like to kick return.
“I played running back for mostly my whole life, so that helps me a lot on the kick return game. It helps me read holes so easily. Like, I tell all the coaches it’s like a video game back there for me. I see one hole and I pick it, and it’s usually the correct hole, and I just shoot. And, then my speed just takes off for me.”
