Penn State news, notes, and updates for March 19 include the latest NFL mock drafts and where former Nittany Lions are in them, headlines of the day, and more.

It’s time to dive into Tuesday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State news of the day

We start with a fresh set of NFL mock drafts following last week’s opening to free agency plus numerous trades. The various moves across the league mean some former Penn State players are being projected to go somewhere different than they were at the start of March.

Starting with left tackle Olu Fashanu, CBS Sports and Pro Football Focus both now have him going at No. 14 to the New Orleans Saints. Previously, he has been picked to go at No. 10 to the New York Jets.

“Trevor Penning hasn’t worked out at left tackle and Fashanu is too good to pass up in the middle of Round 1,” Ryan Wilson writes for CBS Sports. Adds Pro Football Focus’ Trevor Sikkema:

“Fashanu brings some concerns about how he deals with power, but he’s a fantastic athlete and a great pass protector who can still develop that power as a young player. The Saints can’t just roll into next season under the assumption that Trevor Penning will get substantially better.”

PFF has former Penn State defensive end Chop Robinson going at No. 29 to Detroit Lions. PFF has dropped him out of the first round, however. It now sends him to the Carolina Panthers with the first pick of Round 2 (No. 33 overall). The outlet also has end Adisa Isaac going in Round 3 to Detroit with the No. 73 overall selection.
