Penn State has not yet finished the 2021 season. But, the Nittany Lions have a good idea of what their quarterback room will look like in 2022.

Penn State tweets of the day

Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford announced Friday that he will return for a sixth and final season in State College.

Backup Ta’Quan Roberson, meanwhile, said Monday that he has entered the NCAA transfer portal. He does not have to leave simply because he decided to do so. But, it’s expected that he will.

“Thank you Coach Franklin and staff for believing and taking a chance on me,” Roberson wrote.

“After much thought and consideration, my family and I have decided that it is best that I enter my name in the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility remaining.”

In other quarterback news, Purdue’s Aidan O’Connell is also returning for a sixth and final season. The Nittany Lions will face him and the Boilermakers in West Layfayette to start next season.

Penn State hosted many recruits this weekend as the contact and quiet periods came to a close. It marked the last time prospects could visit in December. The early signing period starts Wednesday.

New Penn State defensive coordinator Manny Diaz has arrived in State College. He was announced as the replacement for Brent Pry on Saturday morning.
