Penn State adds walk-on kicker; latest Lions recruiting updates: Newsstand
Penn State news, notes, and updates for Dec. 9 include a recruiting rundown, including a new walk-on commitment, from a busy Thursday, plus a look at how fans can support former Lion and current Pittsburgh Steeler Marcus Allen’s case to make the Pro Bowl.
It’s time to dive into Friday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.
Penn State tweets of the day
We start with the latest recruiting news. Leading us off is a new walk-on commitment.
Two-time All-Ivy League kicker Alex Felkins is leaving Columbia to walk on with the Lions. Per his school bio, “in his 20-game career, scored 122 points, converted 25 of 38 field goals, converted 47 of 51 extra points, and totaled 62 touchbacks on kickoffs.” He is also second all-time at Columbia in field goals made and is the record holder for 50-plus yard makes with two, which only five Ivy League kickers have ever done.
Penn State doesn’t know if Jake Pinegar will be back next year. So, it’s a worthwhile addition to add competition, at worst, to Stacy Collins’ room.
In other recruiting news, longtime Penn State linebacker target Kaveion Keys decommitted from North Carolina. Now, the Lions will push even harder to land the four-star.
