Penn State tweets of the day
We start with Penn State alum Micah Parsons. He is the No. 9 player on NFL.com’s top 100 list of active NFL players.
“Parsons has been the Defensive Player of the Year runner-up in each of his two seasons, winning Defensive Rookie of the Year in his first campaign,” NFL.com writes. “Considering the numbers he’s put up and his ability to line up in multiple positions, it’s no wonder Parsons has accumulated so many accolades in his short career. Parsons ranked top-10 in sacks (13.5), QB hits (26) and forced fumbles (3) in 2022, with all three matching or setting career highs.”

“Five Nittany Lions finished in double figures while all 13 players that saw the floor scored in the balanced team attack. Penn State had 26 assists on 40 made field goals in the efficient offensive performance, while the Nittany Lion defense forced 33 Pirates’ turnovers.
“Good first game,” said Peter and Ann Tombros Endowed Head Coach Mike Rhoades. “A lot of guys contributed and we played a lot of different rotations and lineups. Great to see we had 26 assists, that means we’re playing the right way.”

Quote of the day
“There’s excitement. They’re fast and they play fast. Now I’ve got to slow them down. We talk in the backfield about “slow to, fast through.” Getting them to understand to just take a deep breath. I have to remind myself that these kids weren’t here in the spring. When they come into the new offense, you’ve got one kid who missed his whole senior year, just let them be patient.”
