Penn State among finalists for coveted offensive line prospect
Penn State is among four finalists for one of the Nittany Lions’ top prospects in the Class of 2025. Michael Carroll, the 6-foot-6, 300-pound offensive lineman out of Doylestown (Pa.) Central Bucks East has narrowed his choices to include Penn State, Michigan, Georgia, and Alabama.
On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported the news on Twitter on Saturday afternoon.
The news arrives ahead of a string of four official visits set for the next month. Carroll is slated for a series of successive weekend trips. He will visit Georgia on May 31, followed by Alabama (June 7), Michigan (June 14), and will wrap his scheduled visits with Penn State on June 21.
Penn State currently has two true offensive linemen already committed in the Class of 2025 with Owen Aliciene and Michael Troutman. Brady O’Hara, a tight end prospect who could grow into an offensive tackle, could potentially build that haul to three.
Carroll is the nation’s No. 27-ranked player overall in the Class of 2025 according to On3. He carries four-star status with On3, ESPN, and Rivals. In the On3 Industry Ranking, he is No. 183 overall and 13th among interior offensive linemen.
On3’s Charles Power evaluates rising Michael Carroll recruitment
Late last month, On3’s national recruiting analyst Charles Power offered some perspective on why the Penn State legacy has taken off with his recruitment.

From Power:
“I beleive Michael Carroll had more film come out between this update and when we watched the last go around. So, that certainly helped. But I think Carroll is a guy we’ve always been high on dating back to last year, particularly when you compare us to the rest of the industry. He’s a guy that, the more and more you watch him, the more and more you like him.
“I think after going through this interior offensive line group, you can argue that he has the highest upside of the group. When you factor in his frame, and he’s got an offensive tackle frame, no doubt, but also his movement skills, he’s just shown so much improvement. We love guys who show consistent improvement and I think Michael Carroll’s a guy who has the look of an ascending prospect.
“I really love the movement skills and the strength. He’s got massive hands. When he puts his hands on guys, he’s moving them. But also, the athletic ability he shows playing defensive line is impressive. He has some legitimate wow plays playing defensive line, which, just from my time doing this, is a great indicator when you see guys who are two-way linemen making plays on both sides of the ball. That projects really well at offensive line long term.
“It’s not surprising to see his recruitment kind of catch up as well. He’s become a national prospect from a talent perspective.”
