Penn State availability report: Who is out and questionable for the Lions against West Virginia?

The Big Ten is requiring every conference team to release an availability report at least two hours before each game this season. Penn State has released its first one ahead of tonight’s 7:30 p.m. clash with West Virginia on NBC. No reason has to be given for why a player is either OUT or QUESTIONABLE for the matchup.
For the Lions, receiver Tyler Johnson, defensive end Amin Vanover, cornerback Daequan Hardy, running back DK Kency, safety Jashaun Green, defensive end Mason Robinson, defensive tackle Alonzo Ford Jr., offensive lineman Ian Harvie, offensive tackle Landon Tengwall, offensive lineman Jim Fitzgerald, defensive end Smith Vilbert, and defensive tackle Coziah Izzard are OUT. Receiver Omari Evans and quarterback Karson Kiesewetter are questionable.
At his Tuesday news conference, head coach James Franklin supported the availability reports, which were announced earlier this summer.
“To be honest with you, I don’t really care what the rules are, just as long as everybody’s following the same rules,” Franklin said. “Whether that is reporting injuries or whether that’s playing a nine conference game schedule or an eight conference game schedule, there should be more consistency across the board.
“This has been something that’s been talked about for a long time. I think one of the reasons that I’m fine with it, too, is we don’t really get into the specifics of the injury. It’s just who’s available and who’s not for the most part. I think you’re going to see that happen to some degree across college football. I do think it’s important, like most things, again it should be consistent. Everybody should be doing it the same way.
“I think you’re going to see this year in the next couple years be more of a standard across college football for a lot of reasons that I think you guys are aware of.”
