Penn State availability report: Who is out, questionable, for the Lions matchup with Iowa?
STATE COLLEGE — Penn State plays Iowa tonight. The No. 7 Nittany Lions and No. 24 Hwakeyes have both released their Big Ten mandated availability report ahead of Saturday’s showdown at Beaver Stadium (7:30 p.m., CBS).
For Penn State, receiver Malick Meiga, receiver Tyler Johnson, running back David Kency Jr., Amiel Davis, Feyisayo Oluleye, Jashaun Green, defensive end Mason Robinson, Joey Palko, offensive lineman Jim Fitzgerald, Jan Mahlert, and defensive end Smith Vilbert are out. Receiver Harrison Wallace III is questionable.
For Iowa, running back Kalen Johnson, receiver Jacob Bostick, receivers Jaizun Patterson and Reese Osgood, lineman Asher Fahey, tight end Luke Lachey, and defensive lineman Chris Reames are out.
On Wednesday, head coach James Franklin addressed why receiver Harrison Wallace III missed last weekend’s game. He was questionable then, too.
“I don’t think it was that he wasn’t cleared to play,” Franklin said. “He wasn’t cleared in a way that we felt like he was going to be productive. Honestly, Omari [Evans]’ had some bumps and bruises. That’s kind of why he’s been limited. [Wallace] could have played. But, was not practicing and playing the way we think he’s capable of. I think there’s a difference, right?

“There’s a difference between being cleared, and you can go out and do it. But, you’re not at your best right now. So, if we have the ability to wait a week, to hopefully get them there, that’s what we’d like to do. And, that’s really kind of what happened last week, to describe it in a little bit more detail.”
