It’s time to dive into Monday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.
Penn State tweets of the day
We start with Penn State basketball. Head coach Micah Shrewsberry’s team is a 2.5-point underdog for Thursday night’s matchup with Texas A&M. The 10th-seeded Nittany Lions meet the seventh-seeded Aggies at 9:55 p.m. in Des Moines, Iowa. TBS will televise the contest.
Penn State punched its ticket to NCAA Tournament after a fantastic run in the Big Ten tournament last weekend that ended with a second-place finish.
“We’re disappointed, but not in their effort and how we played,” Shewsberry told reporters in Chicago. “We just didn’t finish the job of what we came here for. We wanted to come here and win the championship, and we didn’t get chance to do it.

“But this is a really unique position for us where we’re gonna go watch the NCAA Tournament Selection Show, and we hear our name called. And at the beginning of the year, probably nobody other than me and those guys in our locker room, and our staff, was saying this was going to happen. So I’m proud of our team for what they’ve done all year.”
In other news, NFL Network’s Gregg Rosenthal has ranked his top 101 NFL free agents. Former Penn State tight end Mike Gesicki checks in at No. 23.
“He’s much more than bad versions of the Griddy and the scant production he registered in his first season under Mike McDaniel in Miami,” Rosenthal writes. “A rocked-up slot receiver, Gesicki needs to find an offense that will treat him as such again.”
