Penn State Beaver Stadium press box demolition FAQ: What time will it start? Where should I park? Other answers
The Beaver Stadium press box, which has stood since 1980, comes down on Saturday. The demolition of the west side structure is the next step in a $700 million Penn State renovation project that started with improvements and winterization work in 2024 and continues through 2027. Work is to be completed before the start of games that season.
“There will be workers on site 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the next six weeks to demo, clear and prep the area for the construction that will take place prior to the 2025 season,” Penn State writes in a news release.
“The Beaver Stadium press box, which was original to New Beaver Field, was disassembled and moved from New Beaver Field to Beaver Stadium following the 1959 season, along with the grandstands. The press box was expanded to its current configuration in 1980 with additions on either side of the original press box to nearly double its size.”
Penn State is inviting fans to come out and see the historic event. We have all the details you need to know to do so below.
What time is the demolition set for?
It will happen at approximately 8 a.m. ET on Jan. 4.
Is there anything else going on beforehand?
Yes. Parking lots (more on those in a moment) open at 7:30 a.m. At the same time, what the school calls a “celebration” for “the new era of Beaver Stadium” begins. Cashless concession stands open then, too. Coffee, hot chocolate, breakfast sandwiches, and breakfast pastries will all be available for a fee.
“There will also be a number of activities at the event, including a DJ, opportunity to sign a bleacher from the upper West side and drawing to win signed construction hats by the Penn State head coaches,” Penn State says.
