A former Penn State graduate assistant is returning to James Franklin’s staff. Mark Dupuis, who spent the last four seasons as Old Dominion’s wide receivers coach, is taking an analyst position with the Nittany Lions. BWI publisher Sean Fitz first reported the news to subscribers last week.

Dupuis posted the following message on Twitter:

“WeAre BACK! Honored to announce I have accepted a position as an offensive analyst with Coach Franklin and Penn State Football! Grateful for this opportunity and excited to get to work!

Dupuis is a Connecticut graduate. He spent three seasons in State College as a GA. Current Monarchs coach Ricky Rahne made him his first position coach hire when he took over the ODU program in 2019. Before his time at Penn State and in Norfolk, Dupuis spent multiple seasons coaching receivers at Fordhm.

“I’m excited to have Mark join the Monarch football family,” Rahne said when he hired Dupuis in 2019. “We have worked side-by-side with him for the past three years. I knew that I wanted him to join me in Norfolk to build a championship culture,” Rahne said. “His high energy and detail-oriented coaching style is a perfect start to building a dynamic staff.”

Tracking Penn State 2024 staff changes to date

The Penn State support staff is undergoing changes this offseason. In the analysts room, Gabe Infante and Rick Lyster took promotions and joined the on-field staff at Duke with Manny Diaz, while Ola Adams left for an on-field role at Indiana. Letterman Calvin Lowry is also moving on The program has added Bill Queisert and Thomas Allen in the analyst department in addition to Dupuis. They came to Penn State with new coordinators Andy Kotelnicki (offense) and Tom Allen (defense), respectively.

The Lions also lost Khalil Ahmad from the recruiting department. He took a promotion at Syracuse. Assistant recruiting coordinator Shannon Wellman has moved on, as well. Penn State is currently looking to fill all of those open positions. And, more change is possible as the NFL coaching carousel starts to spin in earnest this week and in the months ahead.

As of Tuesday, t-field staff changes for Penn State are at the coordinator spots, with the aforementioned Kotlenicki and Tom Allen replacing Mike Yurcich and Diaz, respectively. And, Stacy Collins is going back to Boise State. But, the Lions have lined up Justin Lustig from Vanderbilt to replace him as the team’s special teams coordinator. Otherwise, the rest of Franklin’s 10-man assistant coaching staff is still intact as the offseason begins.
