Penn State can reach Big Ten title game by simply beating Maryland after Michigan upsets Ohio State
Original story:
Penn State football can qualify for the Big Ten title game by simply beating Maryland today. The Nittany Lions will earn a conference championship spot by beating the Terrapins thanks to Michigan upsetting Ohio State on Saturday in Columbus. With a win at Beaver Stadium today, the Lions would be 11-1 and earn the tiebreaker over Indiana for the right to face Oregon in the Big Ten championship game Saturday in Indianapolis. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET. CBS is televising the game.
Penn State is a 24.5-point favorite over Maryland. The Lions look likely to be without starting receiver Trey Wallace, who is questionable on the Big Ten availability report. The Terrapins, meanwhile, look set to start backup MJ Morris in place of injured first-teamer Billy Edwards. Penn State is looking to clinch its first trip to Lucas Oil Stadium for the conference title game since 2016. It won then, of course. It would mark the second trip there for the Lions in the James Franklin era.
