Penn State Class of 2023 eyeing a big bump, potential setback: BWI Daily
Time for our weekly Penn State recruiting update presented by our friend Andy Luedecke at MyPerfectFranchise. It was a light recruiting list for Penn State football this weekend against Maryland, but the biggest news came away from Happy Valley. Recruiting insiders Ryan Snyder and Sean Fitz discuss potentially big news on the BWI Daily Edition today, so don’t miss the show! Penn State in line for some good recruiting news?
Penn State hosted an official visitor over the weekend in rising prospect out of Georgia, Cameron Wallace. The speedy runner spoke with Snyder about his visit, which Snyder details on the show. How did that visit go, and where does Penn State sit with Wallace? Snyder discusses the chances that the Lions land Wallace and gives his best guess at a timeline.
They also discuss the weekend’s biggest news: the decommitment of four-star cornerback Daniel Harris from Georiga. The 6-2 175-pound player out of Florida is a top-50 player in the nation and had Penn State in his final four before picking the Bulldogs this summer. How much do the Nittany Lions have to do with Harris backing away from his commitment? Fitz discusses what he knows and how the coaches in the Lasch football building feel about their chances. They also discuss the current three-man cornerback class that Penn State has built and how those numbers will work.
Keeping an eye on a southern commit
Another significant news event isn’t favorable for Penn State fans. Four-star safety commit Dakarri Nelson visited another school this past weekend. Snyder and Fitz discuss how the staff views those visits and how the team feels about its chances of retaining the Alabama native. While the visit isn’t good, the news that a national power is interested in Nelson may be worse.

Lastly, they discuss the players that made the trip to Penn State this weekend and which ones stood out among the group in attendance. They also discuss players that accepted a preferred walk-on spot with the team and how that might mean more now, given the team’s propensity to play those players this season.
