The offseason is not here yet. But, for Penn State football, the changes that come after a regular season ends could be on the horizon.

It’s time to start watching for potential coaching staff changes, either voluntary or otherwise. Players could soon start hitting the transfer portal, too, though they may wait until after a bowl game to do so.

Today’s newsstand has headlines and tweets covering the past, present, and future of the Nittany Lions. Let’s dive into the latest Penn State news.

Penn State tweets of the day

We begin with the coaching carousel. It’s spinning manically across the sport. So far, its lone Penn State tie has been a 10-year deal for James Franklin. But, that could soon change.

ESPN reports that longtime Lions assistant Brent Pry could be a candidate for the open Virginia Tech job. It won’t be surprising, either, to see him linked to Louisiana-Layfayette or Louisiana Tech.

On the past assistants front, then, Joe Moorhead appears set to be the next Akron head coach. He, of course, is currently the offensive coordinator at Oregon.

Finally, a former recruiting staffer is reportedly set to return to an on-field role.

Moving on from the coaching world, individual awards will soon be announced in college football. Penn State shared two tremendous stat updates related to Jahan Dotson and Jordan Stout on Sunday.

Quote of the day

“I loved Penn State, I have nothing but good things to say about Penn State and the coaches; I wish I would have never left … but, I’m glad I left, too. I’m glad I stepped back and figured some stuff out.”

–Former PSU lineman and Harrisburg High alum Nate Bruce to PennLive on leaving the Lions after just a few months on campus earlier this year.
