Penn State commit Daniel Jennings reclassifies and will enroll this summer

Princeton (W.Va.) defensive end Daniel Jennings became one of the first members of the Class of 2026 to commit to Penn State last summer. He’ll be ahead of the curve in the next start of the process as well.
Jennings told On3’s Steve Wiltfong that he is going through the steps of reclassifying to the Class of 2025. Blue-White Illustrated has confirmed that Jennings has signed with the Nittany Lions and will enroll at Penn State this summer after completing his high school graduation requirements.
“I have enrolled in homeschool and will be graduating this year and signing with Penn State’s 25’ class here in a few weeks,” Jennings told On3. “Everything has went through compliance. I just have one class and exam I have to finish.”
Jennings was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2026
The 6-foot-2, 235-pound prospect was considered a four-star recruit and the No. 256 overall prospect in the Class of 2026 according to the On3 Industry rankings. He is the No. 29 Edge and the top prospect in West Virginia in the cycle. He was rated slightly higher by On3’s own rankings, as he checked in at No. 160 overall and as the No. 23 Edge prospect nationally.
Jennings ran for over 1,300 yards and scored 23 touchdowns as a running back last fall. On defense, he had 12.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks in an all-state junior year.

“Daniel is the kind of kid that, when you show him how to fix something, he does it almost automatically,” said Princeton head coach Keith Taylor. “He’s extremely coachable. Anything he struggles with, he fixes it next week and that’s something we’re really proud of. He’s starting to become more of a leader, too, which is great to see. He’s always had that swagger on the field, but we didn’t know what we were going to get from him in the locker room and around the guys. That’s exciting to see because it only helps everyone around him.”
The ‘S’ Zone – Penn State set for big recruiting weekend
“His athleticism is pretty clear and he fits the type of edge rusher that Penn State has had a lot of success with in recent years,” On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power said of Jennings. “I like him a good bit and I think once he focuses just on playing defense, you’re going to see him take a leap from a technique perspective.
“From a projection standpoint, when you look at the athleticism he shows on offense and his ability to run sideline-to-sideline on defense is impressive. He looks like he’ll be one of the best players we’ve seen from West Virginia in the past few years.”
It’s the second year in a row that Penn State has had a reclassification at defensive end. Last summer, Texas four-star Max Granville moved up from the Class of 2025 and enrolled just before preseason camp. Granville played in four regular-season games for the Nittany Lions, preserving his redshirt, and also appeared in the postseason three times. He is set to be a part of the team’s defensive end rotation in 2025.
