Space opens in Penn State Class of 2022 after decommit; moving on from Brent Pry: Newsstand
The final Tuesday of November was a busy one for Penn State.
Head coach James Franklin wished longtime assistant Brent Pry well, even though it had to be bittersweet, as he accepted the Virginia Tech head coaching job. Space also opened in the Nittany Lions’ Class of 2022 after a graduate transfer target decommitted.
Those are the top headlines in the newsstand for Dec. 1, but they aren’t the only ones. In other words, it’s time to look at the latest Lions updates of the day.
Penn State tweets of the day
We start with the Brent Pry news. After 11 seasons on Franklin’s staff and 30 in coaching overall, he’s now taking a top job for the first time. Both men were complimentary of each other and expressed gratitude as they parted ways.
On the recruiting front, Harvard offensive lineman Spencer Rolland decommitted on Tuesday; as a result, Penn State has an open slot now in its Class of 2022.However, it may choose to save it for the transfer portal down the road. Time will tell.
Rolland played an entire season and earned Ivy League first-team honors as a Lions pledge. Now, he’ll play his final two seasons elsewhere.
