Penn State defender Tyrece Mills.

Penn State veteran safety Tyrece Mills is no longer part of the Nittany Lions’ program. It was not immediately clear if he is going into the NCAA transfer portal or moving on to try and make the NFL. Mills did have a year of eligibility remaining if he wanted to use it. Clearly, he did not want to do so with the Lions.

Mills came to State College from Lackawanna College. He had 17 tackles over two seasons and recorded an interception in 2024. He also played special teams, and is the latest Nittany Lion to hit the portal.

That number currently stands at six. The newest commitment is former Michigan defensive tackle Owen Wafle. He signed with the Lions on Monday after committing over the weekend.

Texas A&M offensive lineman TJ Shanahan picked the Lions on Friday and also signed on Monday. The Aggies list him at 6-foot-4, 315 pounds. He has experience at guard and center. He saw time in 10 games, with five stars, and did deal with some injury issues. The Orlando, Fla., native has multiple years of eligibility left.

Former Penn State safety King Mack is coming back to the Lions after a year at Alabama.

Former USC receiver Kyron Hudson kicked off the Lions’ portal run when he picked the school back on Dec. 16. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound California native recorded 38 receptions for 482 yards and three touchdowns. He started his college career in 2021 and has one year of eligibility remaining.

Enai White was next to pick Penn State. The former Texas A&M defensive lineman who stands 6-foot-5, 245 pound, did so on Dec. 20. Injuries hampered his time in College Station. But, he still brings 11 tackles and two sacks over two years plus multiple years of eligibility to State College.

Later in December, All-Sun Belt receiver Devonte Ross picked the Lions on Dec. 24. Ross caught 76 passes for 1,043 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2024 and also had a punt return for a touchdown. He is listed by Troy at 5-foot-11, 161 pounds.
