We start with another look at summer workouts. Penn State defensive tackle Jordan van den Berg is now the program’s all-time leader in the squat lift. He tweeted over the weekend that he squatted 615 pounds four times, which broke the previous record. It’s a big offseason for van den Berg, who is hoping to have his biggest college role yet this fall. Last week, head coach James Franklin tweeted that he may be the most improved player in the program.
In related workout news, Lions running back Nicholas Singleton power cleaned 385 pounds, which impressed head strength coach Chuck Losey enough to tweet about it. The reigning Big Ten freshman of the year is aiming for an even bigger sophomore season.
