Penn State honors Franco Harris during 2023 Rose Bowl Game arrival
LOS ANGELES – Penn State has officially arrived for Monday’s 2023 Rose Bowl. Following the passing of former Nittany Lion great Franco Harris, the team arrived wearing jerseys in his honor. They’re also set to have #34 decals on their helmet for today’s game. Harris passed at the age of 72 back on Dec. 21.
“Obviously [it’s a] huge loss, a huge loss for football in general, college football, NFL, Penn State [and] really Pennsylvania,” Frankin said back on Dec. 21 in reference to Harris. “For him to have the type of career that he had at Penn State, then go on and do it at the Steelers. But more importantly than that, just an unbelievable human being. [Harris] was really an ambassador for the university and the football program. [He] was a servant leader.
“Every time I had a chance to be around him, I was just so impressed with him and his wife. Obviously very involved with a lot of different causes throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Just an amazing, amazing human being. A huge loss for us. Obviously we want to send our condolences to the family.”
