Penn State picked up its second commitment of the month on Monday with the addition of New Jersey cornerback Jahmir Joseph to its Class of 2025. Listed at 6-foot, 185 pounds, Joseph earned an offer from assistant coach Terry Smith back in Aug. 2022.

Including this weekend’s official visit, the St. Joseph’s Regional prospect totaled four trips to Penn State over the past few years, beginning with a trip to watch spring practice before he was offered in April 2022. He followed that up with two more unofficial visits in 2023, first attending the Blue-White Game in April and then the home opener against West Virginia last September.

Last season, Joseph totaled 43 tackles and three interceptions for the Green Knights. He also had eight pass breakups, four forced fumbles and blocked two punts. He totaled the same number of tackles his sophomore season, totaling 43 tackles, 15 pass breakups, three interceptions and a forced fumble in 2022.

Over the course of his recruitment, Joseph earned more than 30 scholarship offers. He took unofficial visits to Georgia and South Carolina earlier this year. That was followed by official visits to Stanford and Notre Dame before he got to Penn State. South Carolina also planned to host him for an official visit next weekend, June 21-23. That visit is no longer expected to take place.

In addition to being a member of the On300, Joseph also holds a four-star rating in the On3’s Industry Rankings. All four major recruiting services consider him a four-star prospect. He’s ranked No. 182 nationally in the Industry Rankings, 22nd overall at cornerback and No. 4 in New Jersey.

With Joseph now committed, Penn State is up to three cornerbacks in this year’s class. Pittsburgh Central Catholic’s Xxavier Thomas committed to the Nittany Lions back in December. PSU also picked up a commitment from California native Daryus Dixson just last Monday following his official visit. The class has 15 total commitments now and is ranked among the Top 15 nationally in On3’s Team Rankings.

If all goes to plan, Penn State would like to add one more cornerback to the class. McDonogh’s Brandon Finney remains the staff’s top target at the position. He took an official visit from May 31 to June 2 and has since followed that up with trips to South Carolina and Ohio State. Finney is expected to take his fourth official to Oregon next weekend, June 21-23, before likely making a decision soon after. Penn State also has an official visit lined up with Ohio cornerback Dawayne Galloway this upcoming weekend.
