Top 50 defensive tackle prospect Trent Wilson announces upcoming junior day visit to Penn State
Penn State has locked in another important junior day visit for Jan. 20, as four-star defensive tackle Trent Wilson confirmed Thursday afternoon that he’ll be back in State College next weekend.
A 6-foot-3, 260-pound prospect from Wise High School in Upper Marlboro, Md., Wilson earned an offer from James Franklin and his staff in June 2022 when he camped at Penn State. He then returned to Happy Valley four times in 2023, including two visits during the season to watch the Nittany Lions play West Virginia and Michigan.
Wilson has also earned more than 30 scholarship offers. Back in August, he announced a Top 12 that included Penn State, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Rutgers, Texas, Texas A&M and USC. However, he also announced two days ago that he plans to attend a junior day at Florida State on Jan. 27. The Seminoles haven’t yet offered, but we would expect that to change if he visits.

Of the schools he did include among his favorites, Wilson has visited Maryland, Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M and USC. Maryland hosted him for a game this season, with the other visits all taking place last spring. However, no school has hosted him nearly as much as Penn State.
On3 National Recruiting Analyst Chad Simmons provided his thoughts on Wilson’s recruitment back in November.

“He has a good connection with the staff and the Nittany Lions sit in a good position early for Wilson,” Simmons wrote. “Maryland is working hard to keep him home, and numerous other schools are on his list, but Penn State is high on his list.
In October, On3 Scouting Director Charles Power moved Wilson up in the On300 to No. 25 in the nation for the 2025 class. If he stays that high throughout the cycle, that would ultimately make Wilson a five-star prospect. He’s currently the fourth-ranked defensive lineman in the class and the top-ranked player in Maryland.
The On3 Industry Rankings, which combines On3, 247, Rivals and ESPN for a cumulative grade, have him a bit lower at No. 85 nationally and ninth overall at the position.
Last month, we listed Wilson as one of Penn State’s most important defensive prospects in the Class of 2025. He’s one of two coveted defensive tackle prospects in the region for position coach Deion Barnes, joining St. Joseph’s Prep’s Maxwell Roy.
