Penn State news, notes, and updates for April 26 include football and wrestling recruiting wins, plus a new Class of 2024 quarterback offer and more.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with recruiting wins across the Penn State athletics department. The football team picked up its second Class of 2024 verbal commitment in as many days on Tuesday. The Lions landed North Carolina three-star offensive lineman Eagan Boyer a day after they picked up Wisconsin three-star tackle Garrett Sexton. The program’s latest class is No. 10 in the On3 Industry team rankings.

Elsewhere, head coach Cael Sanderson’s wrestling team scored a major victory by plucking former Minnesota All-American Aaron Nagao out of the transfer portal. He will fill the open 133-pound slot in the starting lineup that was vacated by multi-time NCAA champion Roman Bravo-Young. Nagao picked the Lions over Iowa, Cornell, and Minnesota. He is the third portal pickup for the Lions this offseason. He follows upper weight Bernie Truax IV from Cal Poly and middleweight Mitchell Mesenbrink from Cal Baptist.

In other news, a new Class of 2024 quarterback offer is out from offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich. The Lions are now in the mix for Winter Garden, Fla., On3 Industry Ranking three-star Trever Jackson. The junior is a four-star, according to On3’s rankings. He is an Elite 11 finalist and will be in the prestigious passing competition later this year.

Quote of the day

“I’m playing a lot faster. I understand the defense now. So it’s a lot less thinking about what my responsibility is and just playing and going off what the offense is doing. I just feel like I’m playing a lot faster and just really, really having fun at the position.”

–PSU safety and first-year captain Keaton Ellis on his progress made this spring.
