Welcome to the first Friday of December, Penn State fans.

Conference championship weekend is upon us. The Lions aren’t on the schedule, of course, but there are still plenty of great games on tap. Then, on Sunday, we’ll learn where the team is headed for a bowl game.

In other news, a current Penn State assistant coach is an “early name to know” at Virginia. Bronco Mendenhall surprisingly stepped down there on Thursday. Beyond that, an ex-Lions offensive coordinator could be returning to the place he was at before joining James Franklin’s staff prior to the 2020 season.

Let’s get into the final newsstand of the week with top tweets and headlines about PSU and college football.

Penn State tweets of the day

We get rolling with a suggestion from ESPN national college football reporter Adam Rittenberg. He says that current PSU safeties coach Anthony Poindexter is someone who could be in line for the top spot at UVA.

Poindexter has never been a head coach, but he’s a beloved Cavs alum.

Elsewhere, Kirk Ciarrocca will seemingly soon be officially welcomed back at Minnesota. Remember that he left the Gophers to join Penn State. Then, he was replaced by Mike Yurcich a year later. Ciarrocca spent this season as an off-field analyst at West Virginia.
