Penn State makes the cut with four-star 2025 wide receiver Jerome Myles
Penn State picked up its third wide receiver in the Class of 2025 on Sunday with the addition of Miami native Koby Howard. However, that’s not going to stop head coach James Franklin and his staff from pursuing additional receivers in the months ahead.
On Monday evening, one of the staff’s top remaining targets in the 2025 class, Utah native Jerome Myles, narrowed his list down to 10 schools. A four-star prospect in On3’s Industry Rankings, Penn State had built an early relationship with Myles but then picked up its efforts considerably back in June when he decommitted from Ole Miss. Once it became clear that he had real interest in visiting this upcoming season, the Lions offered a scholarship to Myles a few weeks ago on July 20.
Now, in addition to Penn State, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound receiver has a host of top programs pursuing him. The other nine schools still in the mix are Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Utah and USC.
Myles’ interest in Penn State shouldn’t be a major surprise to Nittany Lion fans. Blue White Illustrated included Myles in a lookahead article for potential wide receiver targets back on July 11.
“Penn State was beginning to build a relationship with Jerome Myles this past spring, but an official visit to Ole Miss in April quickly led to a commitment,” BWI wrote at the time. “However, the Utah resident ended up backing out of that decision at the end of June and now Penn State is working to once again build up that relationship with the goal of earning a visit at some point.

“As of now, Myles’ recruitment is expected to drag into the fall, so time will tell if Penn State is able to insert itself into this recruitment, but there has been steady communication in recent weeks. So far, he’s taken official visits to Ole Miss, Utah and Texas A&M. Auburn and Michigan have also shown interest recently.”

Since then, Myles informed On3 that he plans to visit both LSU and Penn State this upcoming season. We expect that to be an official visit for one of the marquee games on the schedule. As of now, which date specifically is unclear.
Last season, Myles played in just six games, totaling 19 receptions for nearly 500 yards and six touchdowns. On3 Scouting Director Charles Power also included him in his ‘Future Freaks’ article just under a month ago in mid-July.
“Jerome Myles could have the best size and speed combination in the 2025 cycle,” Power wrote. “A full year younger than the majority of his peers, Myles has seen a spike in his physical development and athleticism. This spring, he broke a 43-year state record in the 100 meters in his first year running track, ripping off a scintillating wind-legal 10.36 mark at 215 pounds.”
Myles also posted strong testing numbers at the UC Report this past spring, running a 4.48-second 40-yard dash, a 4.29-second shuttle and a 9-foot, 4-inch broad jump.
