Penn State opened up its gates to the Lasch Building Tuesday for the media to watch spring practice for the final time ahead of Saturday’s Blue-White Game. Following last year’s event, which was more of an open practice than a true game, James Franklin made it clear last week that the Lions are on pace for a true spring game this year. With just two practices remaining before Saturday’s spring game, Franklin said he felt good about the progress his team made this spring.

“I thought we had a good practice today on both sides,” Franklin said. “I think we’re about where I thought we’d be. We had a big question mark with the specialist. I feel good about the long snapper, feel good about the punting competition, field good about the field goal competition, so that’s been good.

“I think there’s still some question marks in terms of depth at D-tackle. We gotta get resolved there. And then I still think there’s a question mark at wide out. Who’s going to be the third wide out? That’s still a pretty open competition with a number of guys competing for the job.”
