Penn State set to host four-star offensive lineman from Texas for upcoming junior day
Penn State’s coaches and players returned from California less than 24 hours ago, but James Franklin and his staff are already back at work, this time focusing on the recruiting trail. As Blue White Illustrated’s Sean Fitz reported this morning, the Nittany Lions are hosting two transfer portal prospects on campus today and tomorrow. Although it’s still a dead period, potential midyear enrollees in the portal can visit schools from now until Sunday, Jan. 8.
More transfer portal targets will likely be on campus this weekend as well, and that’s only the start of what we’re going to see this month. With the dead still in effect for high school players until Jan. 12, the Nittany Lion recruiting staff will then shift much of their focus to the Class of 2024 in about 10 days from now when they host their first junior day of the month. As we noted previously, fans should expect the staff to host three junior days total this month, one every Saturday (Jan. 14, 21 & 28) until the February dead period begins.

Those visitor lists will start to come together next week, but one of the top players expected to attend next Saturday is offensive lineman Blake Frazier. A four-star prospect from Austin, Texas, Frazier confirmed his plans to travel to State College via Twitter Wednesday morning.
Checking in at 6-foot-6, 250 pounds, Frazier only recently earned an offer from Penn State on Dec. 21. With his high school, Vandegrift, advancing all the way to Texas’ 6A state championship game, Frazier said he hasn’t been focusing on recruiting as much in recent months. That’ll all change now this offseason.

“I’m pretty excited,” Frazier told On3’s EJ Holland this week. “That Sept. 1 date came during the second week of our season. I made a vow to myself to have conversations with coaches but not let it get in the way of the season. My main focus was helping the team get as far as we could. Now that the season is over, I have some offseason goals like adding weight, but it is exciting to know that I can focus a little more on recruiting.”
Frazier is expected to be one of the nation’s most coveted offensive linemen for the Class of 2024. He’s currently ranked No. 157 nationally by On3 and No. 272 nationally in the On3 Consensus.
Frazier holds 14 scholarship offers currently, the most recent of which came from Auburn Wednesday afternoon. Clemson and Texas A&M have hosted him for two visits so far. He also saw Michigan, Oklahoma and Texas one time each. Frazier’s father, Steve, played for Michigan’s national championship team in 1997.
